Prince George

OK. I know it. So many people have told me that Nelson is not on the way to Prince George. But who would give up scenery like this?

In the town of Prince George Cathy and I stayed with a Park Naturalist friend who showed us around in the morning. "Better get down to the river now" a friend of hers had warned us, "It's starting to flood.  We hopped into Gail's car and were immediately in love with the cotttonwood giants by the river. We didn't walk far before we encountered the flood waters and soon had to take off our shoes to cross the little rivulets that were beginning to flow across the trails. It stopped us from finding all the faces in the trees, but not from enjoying a wonderful morning.

The afternoon took us to Positive Living North and Shannon had the honour of adding Prince George to our truck board. We both had the honour of hearing a few stories from the people who live here, trying to overcome some of the challenges of isolated communities around health care.  We shared food and the film - Positive Women Exposing Injustice. One story that touched our hearts here was that of one man's struggles around finding a way to mental health. The journey is not always as beautiful as the pictures show. As we left our friends in Prince George, we were given several gifts for the road - a travel mug bearing the Eagle design, a warm blanket and pens!  How did they know that I am always searching for a pen? We are so blessed.

We had no event arranged in Edmonton so have decided to head through the Rockies to Calgary.  Cathy and I should have a few images to upload in a couple of days. And I promise to take some of her too!
